Questions & answers

Why Singapore & Malaysia?

  • A combined population of nearly 42 mln people, diverse in cultures, religions, consumer habits, and demographics
  • Robust economic growth (above US and EU) combined with healthy demographics with a strong trend for healthier diets create many new niche opportunities for imported high quality produce
  • Both Malaysia and Singapore remain net importers of fresh produce, with combined annual import values nearing $3.7 billion – just slightly below Egypt’s total yearly fruit and vegetable exports
  • Both nations present strong potential for international trade expansion, hosting several of the world’s busiest seaports and serving as the trade gateway to the whole of Asia
  • Egypt is already among the leaders in fresh produce supply to both Singapore and Malaysia, including citrus fruits, fresh grapes, dates, fresh and frozen strawberries, onions, potatoes, and pomegranates – with additional growth potential on the horizon.
