Charting Egypt’s fruit and vegetable export future – final online event with FAO/EBRD

Over the past decade, Egypt has achieved remarkable success in fruit and vegetable exports. Shipments of fresh and frozen produce have doubled, reaching an impressive $3.2 billion in 2024, with Egyptian products now found from Mongolia to Brazil and from New Zealand to Canada.

But how sustainable is Egypt’s export success in the years ahead? Can current achievements secure lasting growth, or will new challenges reshape Egypt’s place in the global produce trade? Will the industry continue to thrive, or could today’s momentum fade under emerging pressures?

The FAO/EBRD Project team organized several successful missions trade missions for the leading exporters and worked closely associations and private companies Egypt for over two years and is ready to share the findings and recommendations for the next steps forward.

Riding simply on the past’s success has always been difficult as it always attracted competition and squeezed margins. Seeing things from inside is important but having a global perspective attached to it is even better. That’s exactly what we are intending to do at final online event.

The event will also highlight the outcomes of recent export missions to Uzbekistan, Poland, Singapore, and Malaysia (2024-2025), which connected Egypt’s leading exporters with local importers and opened doors to new opportunities.

The conference is going to take place on Zoom, January 20, and will start at 11:00 AM (Cairo Time).

Registration is available here.
