Ukrainian strawberry growers have managed to increase their selling prices this week, according to analysts of the EastFruit project. Market participants attribute the price increase primarily to unstable and limited supplies of strawberries as the marketing season is coming to an end in most regions of Ukraine.
According to the project’s daily monitoring data, strawberries in Ukrainian farms have become 23% more expensive on average since the beginning of this week. Currently, growers are supplying strawberries to the fresh market at UAH 100–180/kg ($2.25–4.04/kg), depending on quality and lot size.
According to key market participants, several factors are contributing to higher prices. First of all, market supply is declining rapidly as many horticultural farms are completing their marketing season. At the same time, demand for strawberries remains strong both in the fresh market and from processing companies, which is also supporting price growth in this segment.

Despite the recent increase, strawberry prices on the Ukrainian market are still on average 17% lower than during the same period last year.
