Prices for locally grown strawberries in Ukraine have been declining for the second consecutive week, according to analysts at the EastFruit project. The main reason behind this trend is, above all, a rapid increase in supply from the southern regions of the country. Meanwhile, producers describe demand as restrained.

As a result, amid intense competition, growers are forced to continue gradually lowering their selling prices for this perishable product. Currently, Ukrainian producers offer strawberries at 120–200 UAH/kg ($2.71–4.52/kg), which is on average 21% lower than a week ago.
According to farmers, they are compelled to reduce prices primarily due to increased market supply. In addition, growing imports of strawberries from Greece, Turkey, and Spain are exerting significant pressure on prices, typically not exceeding 200 UAH/kg ($4.52/kg).

It is worth noting that, as of today, strawberries in the Ukrainian market are offered on average 11% higher than in early June of last year. At the same time, most market participants expect prices to decline even further starting next week, when open-field strawberries begin to enter the market in larger volumes.
