Strawberry prices from local farms have started to decrease in Ukraine this week, according to analysts from the EastFruit project. Experts attribute this trend primarily to a rapid increase in supply from producers in the western regions of the country. At the same time, consumer demand remains restrained. As a result, under conditions of intense competition, growers are forced to gradually reduce prices for the available volumes of this highly perishable product.

Just before the previous weekend, farmers were unwilling to sell greenhouse strawberries for less than UAH 200–260/kg ($4.52–5.88/kg). However, at the beginning of this week, when southern and western regions started harvesting strawberries from plastic-covered greenhouses, wholesale prices immediately dropped by 14% to UAH 170–230/kg ($3.84–5.20/kg).

It should be noted that the supply of locally grown strawberries on the Ukrainian market has not yet reached its peak, and a more массовый harvest is expected to begin early next month.
Despite the recent decline, strawberries in Ukraine are still priced on average 32% higher than during the same period last year.
