Sharp Increase in Prices for Last Season’s Potatoes in Ukraine

Ukraine is witnessing another surge in prices for potatoes harvested last season, according to analysts from the EastFruit project. Market participants report that the main driver behind the price hike is the overall reduction in the supply of this product on the domestic market.

As of today, the price for last season’s potatoes in Ukraine ranges from UAH 18 to 28 per kilogram ($0.43–0.68/kg), which is on average 13% higher than at the end of last week. Experts explain the latest price increase by the practical end of the sales season for this type of product on the Ukrainian market.

At the same time, despite the price growth, demand for last season’s potatoes remains relatively high.

Notably, last season’s potatoes in Ukraine are now selling for approximately 24% more than during the same period last year.

More detailed information about the development of the potato market and other fruit and vegetable products in Ukraine is available on the official EastFruit website.
