According to the daily monitoring data of the EastFruit project, another decrease in wholesale potato prices has been recorded in Ukraine this week. According to producers, farmers in virtually all regions of the country have begun mass harvesting, which has resulted in a larger supply of potatoes on the market.
Currently, Ukrainian producers are offering potatoes for sale at UAH 12–20/kg ($0.27–0.45/kg), which is on average 15% lower than a week earlier. The main reason behind the price decline is the seasonal factor, as market supplies of potatoes are increasing almost every day. At the same time, the quality of the available produce often remains relatively low, which is also putting pressure on prices in this market segment.

It is worth noting that during the same period last year, potato prices in Ukraine were on average 16% higher than they are today. Analysts of the project do not rule out the possibility that the downward price trend may continue as potato supplies on the domestic market keep expanding.
