Analysts from the EastFruit project report that prices for new crop white cabbage are declining on the Ukrainian market. The main reason for the downward price adjustments in this segment is the seasonal increase in supply, along with relatively subdued demand.
As of today, cabbage from the 2026 harvest is being offered at UAH 34–40/kg ($0.77–0.91/kg), which is on average 18% lower than at the end of the previous working week.
Farmers are forced to reduce prices активно due to oversupply, as most Ukrainian producers have already started массовая harvesting of early cabbage. The situation is further aggravated by relatively slow sales. Wholesale companies and retail chains prefer to purchase in small batches, given the short shelf life of this product.
At the same time, producers holding stocks of last year’s cabbage of acceptable quality continue to revise their selling prices upward. Currently, wholesale lots of 2025 harvest cabbage are traded at UAH 10–17/kg ($0.23–0.39/kg), compared to UAH 8–15/kg ($0.18–0.34/kg) a week earlier, depending on quality and volumes. Market participants note that demand for last year’s cabbage of appropriate quality remains stable in the domestic market.
Despite the sharp decline, new crop cabbage prices in Ukraine are still, on average, 14% higher than in the same period last year. Experts attribute this price difference to the relatively cold and prolonged spring.
