Morocco set a new benchmark in 2025 by dramatically expanding its frozen strawberry exports to the U.S., reaching unprecedented volumes, reports EastFruit.
Between January and October 2025, the U.S. imported 7,900 tons of Moroccan frozen strawberries valued at $19 million. This represents a 22% increase over the previous year and surpasses the previous record, set in 2019, by 15%.

Exports are distributed throughout the year, but volumes peak between May and August. June 2025 marked the highest monthly shipment, with 2,500 tons delivered.

Recently, however, Mexican exports have declined due to a combination of factors: climate-related production issues, food safety concerns, and the anti-dumping tariffs introduced by the Trump administration in March 2025.
Consequently, despite rising demand, overall U.S. imports of frozen strawberries have fallen, prompting buyers to diversify sourcing from alternative suppliers in Central America and Africa, including Peru, Guatemala, and Morocco.
This shift has allowed Moroccan exporters to achieve record-breaking sales in the U.S. market.
