First batches of locally grown early cabbage enter the Ukrainian market

The first, still limited batches of young white cabbage have appeared on the Ukrainian market, according to analysts of the EastFruit project. This year, the season for sales of early cabbage from local farms started approximately two weeks later than last year. The delay was mainly caused by relatively cold and prolonged spring weather.

Currently, locally produced white cabbage of the 2026 harvest is offered at prices ranging from UAH 30 to 38 per kg ($0.68–0.87/kg), which is on average 39% lower than the prices for the first batches of this product recorded a year earlier.

Imported early cabbage from North Macedonia is also present on the Ukrainian market. Prices for imported new-crop cabbage have been declining rapidly amid the arrival of the first batches of locally produced cabbage. As of now, cabbage from North Macedonia is offered at an average price of UAH 40 per kg ($0.91/kg).

More detailed information on developments in the white cabbage market and other fruit and vegetable segments in Ukraine is available on the EastFruit website.
