Prices for greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine continue to fall for the third week in a row, according to analysts at the EastFruit project. Market players attribute the current situation to a seasonal increase in the supply of new‑cycle vegetables from local producers, along with relatively weak sales activity.
Local wholesale companies and retail chains are purchasing cucumbers mainly for immediate sale, given the relatively short shelf life of the product.
As of today, Ukrainian greenhouse operators are offering cucumbers at prices ranging from UAH 40–70 per kg ($0.91–1.59/kg), which is on average 22% lower than at the end of the previous working week.
Producers are once again forced to cut ex‑works prices due to growing supply amid restrained demand in this market segment. According to growers, warmer weather conditions in Ukraine have significantly accelerated cucumber ripening in local greenhouses. In addition, increased supply from plastic tunnel greenhouses has added further pressure on the market.

At the same time, greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are now being sold at almost the same price levels as during the corresponding period last year.
