This past week, wholesale prices for greenhouse cucumbers began to decline in Ukraine, according to analysts from the EastFruit project. Warm and partly sunny weather across the country noticeably accelerated the ripening of local greenhouse vegetables. Harvest volumes at greenhouse farms increased rapidly, and due to the sharp rise in supply, producers were forced to gradually reduce their selling prices.

As a result, closer to the end of the week, Ukrainian greenhouse complexes were offering cucumbers at 125–165 UAH/kg ($2.85–3.77/kg), which is on average 10% cheaper than the previous week.
Market participants attribute the downward price trend to a significant drop in demand, caused by the still relatively high prices for greenhouse vegetables. Meanwhile, supply continues to grow rapidly. Harvest volumes in domestic greenhouses increased notably this week thanks to favorable weather conditions. At the same time, supplies of cheaper imported cucumbers remain stable, with prices typically not exceeding 100 UAH/kg ($2.28/kg).
