This week, the Ukrainian market has seen a sharp decline in wholesale prices for greenhouse cucumbers, according to analysts of the EastFruit project. The latest drop is driven by an increase in supply of cucumbers from summer greenhouses, primarily from the southern and western regions of the country.
As of today, these products are mainly sold at UAH 30–55/kg ($0.67–1.22/kg), which is on average 33% cheaper than a week earlier. According to project experts, the price decline is обусловed by a seasonal factor, as the market is rapidly seeing an increase in supplies of cucumbers from local farms.

A positive aspect for Ukrainian producers is that the price collapse coincided with the final weeks of sales for the first crop cycle. Currently, a number of local greenhouse complexes are actively carrying out greenhouse clearing operations, while producers plan to begin marketing the second crop cycle in the second half of summer.
At the same time, Ukrainian greenhouse producers are already selling cucumbers at prices that are on average 20% lower than during the same period last year.
