This week, prices for high-quality carrots in Ukraine have begun to increase, according to analysts at the EastFruit project. Market participants note that the price growth in this segment is driven by fairly strong demand for quality root vegetables amid limited supply. Wholesale companies and retail chains are actively purchasing these products, while vegetable stocks in farm storage facilities are rapidly declining.

The increased demand has allowed local farmers to raise prices for the available volumes of carrots of the appropriate quality. Currently, carrots are offered for sale at UAH 6–13/kg ($0.14–0.30/kg), which is on average 20% higher than at the end of the previous working week.

Experts attribute the positive price trend to the seasonal depletion of high-quality carrot stocks among producers. According to market participants, wholesale companies are increasingly facing difficulties in sourcing the required volumes of high-quality carrots.
It is worth noting that despite the current price increase, carrots in Ukraine are still sold at prices averaging 69% lower than during the same period last year.
