Wholesale carrot prices in Ukraine have been falling for the second consecutive week, according to analysts at the EastFruit project. Market participants attribute the current price situation to an oversupply of carrots, while demand for these root vegetables remains relatively weak.
At present, carrots are mainly sold at UAH 18-26/kg ($0.40-0.58/kg), which is on average 10% lower than a week earlier. Industry experts link the latest decline in wholesale prices in this segment to an oversaturated market.
In addition, demand for carrots has decreased significantly, while harvesting activities are progressing actively in nearly all regions of the country. Under such conditions, growers are compelled to make concessions to buyers and reduce their asking prices.

At the same time, despite the latest price decline, carrots in Ukraine are still being sold at prices averaging twice as high as those recorded during the same period last year.
