Prices for greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine continued to rise this week, according to analysts at the EastFruit project. The main driver behind the price increase in this segment is the limited supply of vegetables on the domestic market. Market operators also report rising tomato prices in Turkey — the main supplier of this product to Ukraine — due to intensified shipments to European Union countries.

As a result, over the past seven days, greenhouse tomato prices on the Ukrainian market have increased by an average of 10%, with current selling prices ranging from UAH 160 to 180 per kilogram ($3.68–4.14/kg).
According to market participants, the upward price trend is driven by strong demand for tomatoes amid constrained supply. It should be noted that imported produce continues to dominate the market, as local greenhouse operations have only recently started harvesting, and sampling volumes remain minimal.

At present, greenhouse tomato prices in Ukraine are on average already 77% higher than during the same period last year. However, sellers do not rule out that price growth in this segment may slow down in the second half of the current month. This expectation is linked to the anticipated entry of a new turnover of tomatoes from the majority of Ukrainian greenhouse producers.
