This week, the Ukrainian greenhouse cucumber market has shown a clear upward price trend, according to analysts from the EastFruit project. The increase in prices is driven by stable demand amid rather limited supply. Over the past week, the volume of harvests in local greenhouse complexes has declined noticeably, while trading activity in this segment has continued to strengthen.

Today, Ukrainian greenhouse producers are offering cucumbers at 135–175 UAH/kg ($3.07–3.98/kg), which is on average 10% higher than at the end of the previous working week. According to producers, several factors are stimulating the price growth. First of all, the decline in supply plays a key role, as harvest volumes in local greenhouses have dropped sharply. It is worth noting that at the beginning of this week, Ukraine experienced a significant drop in temperatures and predominantly cloudy weather, which reduced yields.

Meanwhile, cucumber imports from Turkey have fallen to a minimum due to seasonal factors, which also allows local producers to raise prices amid strong demand.
As of the last ten days of March, the cost of greenhouse cucumbers in the domestic market was already on average 34% higher than during the same period last season. At the same time, market participants believe that prices may soon begin to decline again as the supply of cucumbers from local greenhouse facilities increases.
