Uzbekistan continues to actively increase its date imports – in just the first seven months of 2025, the volume of imports in physical terms has already surpassed the annual totals of previous years, EastFruit experts report.
According to the National Statistics Committee, in January–July 2025, Uzbekistan imported 12.6 thousand tonnes of dates, which is 4.9 thousand tonnes more than in the same period last year. Moreover, this figure is 8% higher than the record set in 2023, when the maximum annual volume of imports was recorded. Thus, a new historic high has been reached well before the end of the current year.

In terms of import geography, the main supplier of dates to Uzbekistan is Iran, which in recent years has almost completely displaced Saudi Arabia from the Uzbek date market. From January to July 2025, Iran accounted for 78% of total imports (9.8 thousand tonnes). The remaining 22% was distributed among other supplier countries as follows:
- Tunisia — 810 tonnes
- Turkey — 396 tonnes
- Saudi Arabia — 245 tonnes
- Kazakhstan — 230 tonnes
- Azerbaijan — 224 tonnes
- UAE — 196 tonnes
- Other countries — 624 tonnes
It should be recalled that back in November 2023, EastFruit experts analyzed the trend of growing date imports into Uzbekistan over the past several years and forecasted a further increase in consumption, pointing to the continuation of this upward trend.
