Uzbekistan: raspberry price has fallen by almost 40% since the start of the harvest season

In 2022, the peak raspberry harvest season in Uzbekistan started in the third decade of May, about a week earlier than last year. Two weeks after the start of the peak harvesting of the new raspberry crop, the average wholesale prices fell by 38%, repeating last year’s dynamics, EastFruit analysts report.

The first wholesale batches of raspberries of the new crop became available on the markets of Uzbekistan in the third decade of May at an average wholesale price of 40 000 UZS/kg ($3.6). Having stayed at this level for 7-10 days, the average wholesale prices fell by 38% in just one week. According to EastFruit price monitoring, from 3 to 10 June, the average wholesale prices for raspberries decreased from 40 000 to 25 000 UZS/kg (from $3.6 to $2.3).

At the beginning of this season, the dynamics of wholesale prices for raspberries in Uzbekistan repeats that of last year with similar price levels, but a week earlier. In 2021, the first wholesale batches of raspberries from the new crop became available on the markets in late May – early June at an average wholesale price of 40 000 UZS/kg ($3.8). Having stayed at this level for about 7-10 days, the average wholesale prices decreased from 40 000 to 25 000 UZS/kg (from $3.8 to $2.4), i.e. by 38%, in just one week – from 10 to 17 June.

Of course, repeating last year’s dynamics at the beginning of the current raspberry harvesting season does not mean that wholesale raspberry prices will keep following last year’s dynamics with the same prices. Further behavior of wholesale prices for raspberries will depend on market conditions in the 2022 season, EastFruit analysts say.
