Ukraine: Prices for Last Season’s Cabbage on the Rise

According to analysts from the EastFruit project, Ukrainian farmers have begun gradually raising prices for white cabbage since the beginning of this week. Producers attribute this decision to a seasonal decline in supply, amid consistently high demand.

Against this backdrop, farmers who still have sufficient stocks of white cabbage for wholesale trade have started to increase prices for the product. As of today, last season’s cabbage is being sold at 38–45 UAH/kg ($0.92–1.09/kg), which is, on average, 10% higher than at the end of the previous working week.

It is worth noting that, at present, cabbage prices in Ukraine are already on average six times higher than they were a year ago. Moreover, market participants do not rule out the possibility that this upward trend may continue, as stocks on farms are rapidly depleting.
