The price of potatoes in Ukraine is decreasing

A downward price trend has been established on the potato market in Ukraine. According to analysts of the EastFruit project, its main reason was a very good harvest in the main production regions and, as a result, an increase in the supply of potatoes to the market.

According to the daily monitoring of the project, current potato prices in the main regions of production are in the range of 5-9 UAH/kg ($0.14-0.25/kg), which is on average 13% cheaper than at the end of the last week.

Experts believe that the reason for this is the seasonal increase in the supply of potatoes on the market, while the demand remains very low. At the same time, most of potatoes sold are low-quality ones, which also affects the price formation in the segment.

Despite the downward price trend, potatoes in Ukraine today are on average 46% more expensive than in the same period last year. However, market players do not rule out that the downward price trend in the segment will continue, as harvesting in households continues.
