Prices for local blueberries fell sharply in Poland

Analysts at EastFruit project noted a decline in prices in the blueberry market in Poland at the beginning of this week. According to the producers, the fall in prices for blueberries at the end of June is not a new phenomenon. Besides, the active harvesting of berries begins at the time, which is accompanied by an increase in supply on the market and, as a consequence, a decrease in selling prices in this segment.

Despite the rather high interest of wholesale companies in the procurement of berries, the supply significantly exceeded real demand, and producers were forced to cut prices. In addition, the low quality of the blueberry due to rainy weather during the ripening period of this berry also exerted pressure on pricing. As a result, producers were forced to lower prices for blueberries to $ 8.98-11.98 / kg, which is on average 19% cheaper than at the end of the last working week.

At the same time, it is worth noting that despite the reduction in price in the segment of local blueberries, currently this berry on the Polish market is on average 1.5 times more expensive than in the same period last year.
