Poland: Beetroot Prices Halt Decline at an Extremely Low Level

Beetroot prices on Poland’s wholesale market have started to stabilize after a month of continuous decline, but the downward trend has stopped at an extremely low level. Market participants do not rule out another drop in average prices this autumn and winter, reports EastFruit, citing FruitVeb.

Currently, sorted and washed beetroot sold in bags is priced at PLN 0.70–0.80 per kg, with an average price of around PLN 0.75 per kg. This is almost identical to the situation last season: during the same period of the 2025/26 season, the average wholesale price was also PLN 0.75 per kg.

Unwashed beetroot sold in bulk is even cheaper, at PLN 0.30–0.50 per kg. The largest domestic processors are offering prices starting at around PLN 0.20 per kg for raw material.

Overall, the current price situation is closely repeating last year’s pattern, which proved extremely challenging for Polish growers. Last season, the average price of PLN 0.75 per kg was the lowest recorded throughout the year and did not fall further. However, from January until the end of the season, beetroot prices remained consistently below the levels seen in previous years, resulting in a significant loss of income for farmers.

The current situation is particularly concerning because the main phase of the autumn harvest is only beginning, while demand remains weak. Therefore, the current price stabilization does not necessarily mean that the downward trend has come to an end.

If prices resume their decline as the supply of the new crop increases, Poland’s average wholesale beetroot price could fall below the already extremely low current level this autumn and winter.
