Wholesale prices for onions in Ukraine have dropped again since the beginning of this week, according to analysts of the EastFruit project. Producers attribute the downward trend primarily to the start of harvesting late onion varieties in the northern and western regions of the country, which has significantly increased market supply.
As of today, wholesale onion prices on the domestic market range between UAH 6–13/kg ($0.15–0.31/kg) — on average, 20% lower than a week earlier. Market participants note that farmers are now selling mainly onions unsuitable for long-term storage due to quality parameters.

At the same time, onions in Ukraine are currently 24% cheaper on average than at the same period last year. However, many industry representatives highlight a sharp reduction in the harvest of high-quality onions this season, caused by unfavorable weather conditions.
