Onion prices continue to rise in Ukraine

After a short period of stability in the onion market in Ukraine, prices for this vegetable have started to increase again, according to analysts of the EastFruit project. Market participants believe that the price growth in this segment is driven by a significant reduction in stocks of the 2025 harvest held by local producers. At the same time, trading activity in the market has slightly intensified, which also supports price increases.

As of today, farmers are offering onions for sale at UAH 5–10/kg ($0.11–0.23/kg), which is on average 19% higher than at the end of the previous working week. At the same time, they note that more substantial price increases are currently difficult to achieve, as buyers are increasingly dissatisfied with the quality of the onions offered.

It should be noted that onions in Ukraine are currently sold at prices that are on average 68% lower than in mid-May last year. At the same time, producers are not confident that they will be able to continue raising prices, as the quality of stored vegetables continues to deteriorate rapidly.

More detailed information about the development of the onion market and other fruit and vegetable products in Ukraine is available on the EastFruit website.
