The avocado export campaign begins in September with early varieties and peaks during the winter months, when shipments of the highly demanded Hass variety dominate. Shipments then gradually declined from March, reaching their lowest levels in August.

Spain remains the primary destination for Moroccan avocados, accounting for more than 35% of total exports, though its share has decreased. France and the Netherlands followed with 25% and 22% respectively, both increasing their shares compared to the prior year. The United Kingdom (7%) and Germany (3%) rounded out the top five importers.
Other destinations collectively accounted for 6.7% of exports in MY 2024/25, up from 3.2% in MY 2023/24, highlighting Morocco’s growing diversification of export markets.

The strongest growth was recorded in Canada, which imported more than 1,000 tons compared to fewer than 70 tons in previous years. Exports to Italy and Switzerland rose sevenfold, while Portugal increased imports fifteenfold and Belgium twelvefold. Sales to Mauritania and the UAE continued to expand, and Turkey resumed purchases.
Overall, exports to secondary destinations quadrupled, reaching 7,600 tons compared to 1,800 tons in the prior year. In total, Moroccan avocados were shipped to 27 countries in MY 2024/25.
Despite ongoing drought conditions, Morocco’s avocado production continues to grow, supporting the country’s rising export performance.
