Morocco Breaks Mango and Guava Import Record for Fifth Consecutive Year

Morocco’s appetite for tropical fruits continues to rise, with mango and guava imports reaching new highs for the fifth year in a row, according to EastFruit. In 2025, Morocco imported 21,900 tons of mangoes and guavas, valued at USD 16.5 million. This represents a 40% increase over 2024 and nearly triple the volumes recorded five years ago, with average annual growth of 23%.

Domestic production remains limited and experimental, leaving imports as the primary source of supply. While Mali traditionally dominated Morocco’s mango and guava imports, delays in its 2025 season shifted demand toward Burkina Faso and Peru in the spring. Spain also emerged as a major supplier, increasing shipments sevenfold in the second half of the year.

By year-end, Senegal led Morocco’s supplier ranking with a 21% share, followed by Spain (18%) and Burkina Faso (15%). Mali fell to fourth place, reducing shipments by nearly 25% and accounting for 12%. Looking ahead, Mali is expected to target Morocco more aggressively in 2026 after losing access to the European market.

Peru climbed to fifth place, expanding exports 4.5 times, while Côte d’Ivoire grew shipments by 25% to secure sixth. Imports from Egypt and Brazil, however, declined by nearly half.
