Morocco’s blueberry exports to Finland surge in MY 2025/26

Morocco has rapidly expanded its footprint in Finland’s blueberry market, achieving record growth in Marketing Year (MY) 2025/26, according to EastFruit. According to Finnish Customs data from Global Trade Tracker, Finland imported 657 tons of fresh Moroccan blueberries worth more than €6 million between July 2025 and June 2026. This volume is 7.5 times greater than Morocco’s cumulative shipments over the previous five years and 12.5 times higher than the record set in MY 2017/18.

Blueberries are becoming increasingly popular in Finland, with imports rising for the third consecutive year and more than doubling in that period. In MY 2025/26, Finland’s total blueberry imports exceeded 4,000 tons for the first time, up 62 percent compared with the previous year. Alongside Morocco, Spain, the Netherlands, and Chile also expanded their shipments, while Poland and South Africa lost market share.

Morocco’s export window aligned perfectly with Finnish demand. Imports began to rise in January with fruit from Peru, Chile, and the Netherlands. By February, Moroccan and Spanish blueberries entered the market, and in March Morocco’s share surpassed 32 percent. The peak came in May, when shipments reached 180 tons. High product quality, competitive pricing, and efficient logistics enabled Morocco to increase volumes forty‑fold compared with the previous year – the strongest growth among all suppliers.

By the end of MY 2025/26, Morocco had climbed to second place among Finland’s blueberry suppliers, with a market share of 16.2 percent. This milestone marks a significant breakthrough, opening the door for Morocco to expand further into Northern European markets.

The success in Finland complements Morocco’s broader regional advance. In the same marketing year, Morocco doubled direct exports of tomatoes to Finland and became the leading supplier of raspberries and blackberries to Norway. Together, these achievements underscore Morocco’s growing role as a key player in Northern Europe’s fruit trade.
