Morocco has strengthened its position in the German market, supplying more than 50,000 tons of sweet peppers in a single season for the first time, according to EastFruit.
In the 2024/25 season (October-September), Germany imported 52.4 thousand tons of Moroccan sweet peppers worth nearly €120 million. This volume is 20% higher than the previous season and marks a new record in trade relations between the two countries.

Shipments of Moroccan sweet peppers to Germany have been growing steadily for six consecutive seasons, with an average annual increase of almost 30%.
During the 2024/25 season, Germany became the third most important export destination for Moroccan sweet peppers, behind only Spain and France. Its share in Morocco’s overall sweet pepper exports reached 14.7%. The growth in shipments to Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom enabled Moroccan exporters to once again set a seasonal export record.
Exports to Germany take place year-round, with peak volumes typically between January and May. In the 2024/25 season, the highest monthly shipment, 6.1 thousand tons, was recorded in March.
Spain and the Netherlands remain the leading suppliers of sweet peppers to Germany, accounting for 80% of total imports. Since the 2019/20 season, Morocco has consistently held third place among suppliers, while steadily increasing its share of the German import market. Moroccan peppers accounted for 4.5% of Germany’s imports in 2019/20, rising to more than 11.7% in 2024/25.
In total, Germany imported sweet peppers from 21 countries during the 2024/25 season.
