EastFruit analysts report a sharp surge in Moroccan lemon shipments to the United Kingdom.
Between November 2024 and August 2025, Morocco exported 1,200 tons of lemons to the UK with a total value of USD 920,000. This volume is 40 times greater than the previous MY’s result and exceeds Morocco’s cumulative lemon exports to the UK over the past decade.
This achievement sets a new record for Moroccan lemon exports to the UK, surpassing the previous benchmark by 12%. Remarkably, the earlier record had stood since MY 2007/08 – 17 years ago.

The United Kingdom is among Morocco’s most important fruit export destinations, ranking just behind Spain and France in recent years. Since MY 2023, Morocco has become the UK’s leading supplier of raspberries, and in the current MY it has also taken the top position in blueberries. Moroccan exporters are active in supplying strawberries, mandarins, watermelons, and avocados to the UK market, though lemon exports had remained minimal for much of the past decade.
Spain, South Africa, and Brazil remain the dominant suppliers of lemons to the UK, jointly accounting for more than 80% of total imports. The Netherlands and Germany contribute around 10%, while the remaining 10% is sourced from other countries, including Morocco.

Thanks to the sharp increase in shipments, Morocco has significantly improved its standing among lemon suppliers to the UK. From 31st place in MY 2020/21, Morocco has now climbed to 11th after ten months of the current MY, overtaking Vietnam and Mexico and approaching the top ten.
Even if Morocco does not maintain this position by the end of the MY, the results already represent a milestone in the country’s export performance. Notably, Moroccan lemon exports are rebounding this year after four consecutive years of decline.
