Cabbage prices have begun to rise in Ukraine since the start of this week, according to analysts of the EastFruit project. The Ukrainian cabbage market is currently experiencing an off-season gap: sales of mid-season varieties are nearly completed, while only a few farms have just started offering late-season cabbage. As a result, the limited supply amid steady trade activity is pushing prices upward.
As of today, producers in the main growing regions are offering white cabbage at UAH 7–16/kg ($0.17–0.39/kg), depending on quality and batch size. This represents an average increase of 27% compared to the end of last week.
Producers note that the sharp price surge is driven by several factors. Most importantly, overall supply has declined significantly: many farms have already finished selling mid-season cabbage, while harvesting of late varieties has only just begun on a limited scale. At the same time, demand for cabbage remains strong, further fueling the price growth.

Despite the current increase, white cabbage in Ukraine is still offered at prices 36% lower than during the same period last year. Market participants suggest that prices could continue to rise at the beginning of next week. However, they also predict a sharp decline soon after, once late-season cabbage enters the market in large volumes.
