The Georgian government has helped farmers sell the harvest of non-standard apples at fixed prices this year, as it did last year. The state subsidy program for enterprises purchasing non-standard apples from farmers ended on December 15. Within the framework of the program, the enterprises processed more than 35 thousand tonnes of non-standard apples, and the income of farmers exceeded 9 million GEL.

The Substandard Apple Harvest Promotion Program allows farmers to deliver low-quality apples at an affordable price. At the same time, it helps to provide raw materials for fruit processing enterprises. The apple juice concentrate obtained from the processing of non-standard apples is mainly exported to the EU markets.
