First Cherries in Uzbekistan’s Supermarkets: Prices and Historical Comparison

In Uzbekistan, cherries are more than just a fruit—they’re a cultural staple and a signal that warmer days have arrived. Known for its fertile lands and rich agricultural heritage, Uzbekistan produces some of the region’s finest cherries, and the appearance of the first batches in supermarkets is always a highly anticipated event. This year, the season has started slightly earlier than usual, adding to the buzz, EastFruit informs.

Price and Availability in 2025

The retailer has made the first cherries available in select Korzinka supermarket branches. Priced at 19,999 SOM ($1.54 ) per bunch, this initial offering reflects the premium nature of early-season cherries.

A typical bunch weighs around 200–250 grams, meaning the cost per kilogram is approximately 80,000–100,000 SOM ($6.15–7.69). This pricing is standard for the first cherries of the season, when demand is high, and supply is limited. Although the price might seem high in SOM it has remained rather stable in USD over the years.

Literally the next day, the Makro supermarket chain also announced the start of sales of the first cherries of the new harvest at a price of 14,990 SOM ($1.16) per branch.
