The Ukrainian market has started receiving the first offerings of locally grown watermelons from the 2025 harvest, according to analysts at the EastFruit project. As of now, farmers in the southern regions of Ukraine and Zakarpattia have begun harvesting this seasonal crop.
The watermelon season has started at approximately the same time as last year, although only a few farms are currently selling the fruit in large wholesale volumes. As of today, the main wholesale prices for watermelons range between 20–28 UAH/kg ($0.48–0.67/kg), while the overall supply remains quite limited.
It’s worth noting that current farmgate prices for the first batches are on average 10% higher than at the beginning of the previous season.

According to market participants, mass sales of watermelons in Ukraine are expected to begin closer to mid-July. At the same time, farmers do not rule out a sharp price drop in the near future, due to the anticipated increase in supply from local producers.
