Analysts from EastFruit report that the Ukrainian plum market is grappling with an oversupply, resulting in significant downward pressure on prices. Local wholesale companies are facing low demand for plums, while the volume of available plums continues to rise due to seasonal factors.
As of today, the price for locally grown plums ranges from 8 to 14 UAH per kilogram ($0.19 to $0.34 per kg), representing an average 54% decrease compared to the end of the previous working week. Notably, the high air temperature has accelerated plum ripening but adversely affected their quality, intensifying the pricing challenge.

Producers are alarmed that plum prices have dipped below last year’s levels. To put it in perspective, sales were approximately 33% higher a year ago. Given the current situation, orchard owners may consider further price adjustments to accommodate buyers.
