Egypt has significantly increased its export of frozen strawberries to Brazil, with supplies growing 30-fold over the past five years, according to EastFruit. By the end of 2024, Egypt had shipped over 30,000 tons of frozen strawberries to Brazil, valued at $27 million, setting an all-time record. The export volume in 2024 was nearly double that of 2023 and 30 times higher than in 2019.
The initial export of Egyptian frozen strawberries to Brazil occurred in 2005, with a modest shipment of 2.5 tons. The next significant attempt was in 2014, with 22 tons. Since 2018, annual shipments have been consistently increasing.

Currently, Egypt exports frozen strawberries to Brazil year-round, with peak shipments from April to August. In 2024, the highest volume was recorded in May, whereas in 2023, August saw the most significant sales.
The surge in export volumes is primarily due to the growing popularity of frozen strawberries in Brazil. Over the past two years, imports to Brazil have risen from 4,000 tons in 2022 to 33,000 tons in 2024.
Egypt’s market share in Brazil’s frozen strawberry segment has also been expanding. In 2019, Egypt accounted for only 5% of Brazil’s total imports, but by 2022, it supplied more than half of the frozen strawberries. This growth has enabled Egypt to nearly displace suppliers like Chile and Argentina, despite their geographical advantages.
As of 2024, Egypt is the leading supplier of frozen strawberries to Brazil, holding nearly 90% of the market share. Other suppliers in 2024 included China (6.8%), Hong Kong (1.8%), Chile (1.4%), and Argentina (0.4%).
Egypt remains the global leader in frozen strawberry exports. Additionally, in 2023, Egypt increased its exports of oranges, mandarins, and garlic to Brazil, as reported by EastFruit.
