Egypt has re-established itself as a major supplier of bananas to Jordan, achieving record export volumes in 2025, according to EastFruit. Last year, Jordan imported 5,250 tons of Egyptian bananas, valued at USD 3.4 million. In 2025, Egypt fully returned to the market, securing second place among Jordan’s suppliers with an 11.6% share. Ecuador maintained its dominant position with 84.5%, while Lebanon ranked third at 2.7%.
Egypt’s resurgence underscores its evolution from a producer focused on domestic consumption to a competitive exporter leveraging geographic proximity and trade agreements to penetrate regional markets.
This achievement complements Egypt’s broader expansion in the Middle East. In 2025, Saudi Arabia also imported record volumes of Egyptian watermelons, further highlighting the country’s growing role in regional fruit trade.
