Egypt has once again set a new benchmark in the European berry trade, recording unprecedented volumes of frozen strawberry exports to Germany. In the first eleven months of 2025, Germany imported 81.9 thousand tons of Egyptian frozen strawberries, valued at over €90 million, according to EastFruit. This represents a 61% increase compared to 2024 and marks the highest level ever achieved in bilateral trade.

Germany has firmly established itself as the leading destination for Egyptian frozen strawberries, accounting for more than 13% of Egypt’s total export structure. Shipments are made year-round, with seasonal peaks between April and August. In 2025, May recorded the highest monthly volume, exceeding 13 thousand tons.
Egypt’s presence in the German market has grown remarkably since the first official deliveries in 2002, when exports totaled just 88 tons. Sustained expansion has been evident since 2016, with average annual growth of 28% over the past decade.

The turning point came in 2019, when Egypt surpassed Poland to become Germany’s largest supplier. By 2023, Egyptian strawberries accounted for more than half of Germany’s imports, and in 2025 Egypt further consolidated its dominance, raising its share to 70% in the January-November period.
Poland remains the second-largest supplier with a 10% share, while China and Spain each contribute 4%. Beyond Germany, Egypt has also sharply expanded its frozen strawberry exports to Turkey, underscoring its growing influence in regional markets.
