This week, the sharp decline in greenhouse cucumber prices continues across Ukraine, according to analysts from the EastFruit project. Market participants attribute the ongoing price drop to the seasonal increase in vegetable supply. At the same time, sales volumes remain relatively low. Local wholesale companies and retail chains are purchasing cucumbers solely for immediate sales, given the product’s short shelf life.
As of today, Ukrainian greenhouse producers are offering cucumbers at prices ranging from 40 to 70 UAH/kg ($0.96–1.69/kg), depending on the variety, quality, and batch size. This represents an average decrease of 12% compared to the end of last week.

Producers are once again being forced to reduce their prices due to growing supply amid subdued demand in this market segment. According to growers, the recent warm weather in Ukraine has significantly accelerated the ripening of cucumbers in local greenhouses. Additionally, the market is under further pressure from the increasing supply of cucumbers from plastic (film) greenhouses.
It is also worth noting that current prices are on average 29% lower than at the beginning of May last year.
