Despite the fact that the supply of carrots on the Ukrainian market is quite limited, prices for this product have started to decrease again, according to analysts from the EastFruit project. Market participants say that the price drop in this segment has been triggered by a decrease in demand for the product. Furthermore, the market is under significant pressure due to the increase in the supply of non-standard carrots, which producers are trying to sell first.
According to the daily monitoring data from the project, carrots in Ukrainian farms are currently being offered for sale at 24-30 UAH/kg ($0.58-0.73/kg), which is on average 10% cheaper than at the end of last week.

Producers themselves state that the reason for this pricing situation is the rather restrained demand for carrots, while the quality of these root vegetables in storage is rapidly deteriorating. It is worth noting that farmers are forced to lower their wholesale prices in this segment even though carrot stocks in Ukrainian farm storage facilities are quickly decreasing.
Nevertheless, it should be noted that even under these conditions, Ukrainian farmers are managing to sell carrots at an average price 3.5 times higher than at the beginning of April 2024.
