Since the beginning of April this year, Ukraine’s table beet market has been experiencing a steady price increase, triggered by a sharp surge in trading activity, according to analysts from the EastFruit project. Producers report that demand for root vegetables in Ukraine has reached a fever pitch. Farm stocks of beets are rapidly declining, while the number of wholesale purchase requests continues to grow.
This situation has enabled farmers to raise their selling prices almost daily. As of today, farms are shipping beets at prices ranging from 20 to 26 UAH/kg ($0.49–$0.63/kg), which is on average 17% higher than at the end of last working week.
Market players attribute the current high prices to a significant reduction in table beet production in Ukraine this season, primarily due to unfavorable weather conditions during the summer of 2024. As a result, most farmers have already declared the end of their sales season, and remaining inventories in storage are nearly depleted.

It is worth noting that current prices for table beets in Ukraine are already, on average, twice as high as they were during the same period last year. At the same time, most key market players anticipate further price increases in this segment, as demand continues to rise while supply is shrinking rapidly.
