The season for exporting fresh apricots from the new harvest has officially begun in Uzbekistan. The first large shipments of this produce are now being dispatched from the Surkhandarya region, the southernmost part of the country, to international markets, according to experts at EastFruit.
On April 29, 2024, the horticultural enterprise “S – Agro Termez Orchards” announced on social media the start of the apricot harvest. The picking is taking place in young orchards planted in 2021–2022, where early apricot varieties of Spanish origin are being cultivated.
According to the company, fresh apricots under the Frutystan brand have already begun shipping to the United Arab Emirates and the Russian market.

This year’s apricot export season in Uzbekistan began around the same time as last year, but 10–14 days later than in 2023. In 2024, the first large shipments were made in late April, whereas in 2023, they started in mid-April, analysts at EastFruit note.
Uzbekistan is one of the world’s largest exporters of fresh apricots and has ranked among the top three supplier countries since 2018. The only exceptions were 2021 and 2022, when extreme weather caused significant damage to the apricot harvest. However, in subsequent years, the country regained its position in the global fresh apricot market. In 2023, Uzbekistan exported 57.3 thousand tons of apricots, and in 2024, this figure increased to 64.8 thousand tons, securing third place (after Spain and Turkey) in global fresh apricot exports in both years, according to EastFruit analysts.
