In Ukraine, the potato market is experiencing an increase in trade and procurement activity, according to analysts from the EastFruit project. Several factors are enabling farmers to continue raising wholesale prices in this segment. First of all, the price increase is supported by strong demand for this product: potatoes are actively purchased by both wholesale companies and retail chains. At the same time, the supply of high‑quality products on the market is somewhat limited, as some farms prefer to withhold sales in anticipation of further price growth.

According to weekly monitoring data from the project, potatoes in Ukrainian farms became on average 14% more expensive over the past week. The price of this product currently ranges from 8–15 UAH/kg, depending on the quality and batches offered for sale.
Some producers who are currently holding back potato sales expect a repeat of last year’s scenario, when prices for these vegetables reached 30 UAH/kg. However, key market players have the opposite view: they believe that such a situation is unlikely to repeat this season, as another price increase in this segment could lead to higher imports of potatoes.

Compared to last season, potatoes in Ukraine are currently sold on average 55% cheaper than in the last days of February 2025. At the same time, most farmers plan to continue raising prices in this segment, citing the rapid depletion of potato stocks in storage facilities.
