Fresh Trends in Fruit and Vegetable Trade: Weekly Market Analysis

The 14th week of 2025 witnessed a notable surge in fresh produce activity across the EastFruit Trade Platform. The number of listings increased by 10%, primarily driven by a spike in offers from Uzbekistan, alongside greater activity from Ukraine, Egypt, and Iran. Contributions also resumed from Albania and the Netherlands, bringing the total to 10 active trading nations.

White cabbage was the undisputed leader in sales, with consistent supply from Uzbekistan, Ukraine, and Macedonia. Albania notably boosted its cabbage exports by 71%, marking a significant regional development. Sales of carrots, beets, and onions also saw an uptick, including the season’s first harvests of new onions from southern Uzbekistan.

Ukrainian farmers expanded their presence with increased offerings of cucumbers and radishes, responding to growing demand. Meanwhile, Egypt maintained stable prices on its exports for the second consecutive week, reflecting a steadied trade rhythm.

Fruit trade remains modest, with apples continuing to dominate. The arrival of early greenhouse-grown strawberries from Uzbekistan and Greece hints at a shifting seasonal trend. Interestingly, Azerbaijan has just opened its markets to fresh fruit imports from Israel, creating new regional opportunities.

On the price front, Ukraine experienced continued declines across most vegetables, particularly tomatoes and greenhouse cucumbers, while radish oversupply led to price reductions. In contrast, pear prices rose in Uzbekistan, and the first new onions were sold at ten times the price of the previous year.

In the agri-tech segment, sales of apple, apricot, grape seedlings, and strawberry plugs remain robust, mostly from Ukraine and Uzbekistan. Offers for melon seeds and agricultural supplies such as tunnel film and drip tape are also in circulation.
