Unified export strategy, 350+ ha of blueberries and up to 20 tonnes of daily sorting capacity: Ukrainian producers strengthen access to premium EU markets

Three Ukrainian blueberry producers that will work with the UA GROWERS export platform in the 2026 season are consolidating more than 350 hectares of fruit-bearing plantations, over 2,000 square metres of storage infrastructure, and automated Unitec and Elifab sorting lines with a combined capacity of up to 20 tonnes per day. As EastFruit reports, this is not merely a consolidation of production assets, but the creation of a unified export strategy, a shared sales system, and a stronger entry into the high-margin markets of the European Union.

The model brings together Nikdaria LLC, Family Garden LLC, and Vitamin UA LLC. According to Yevhenii Kharlan, coordinator of the UA GROWERS export platform, the companies will operate within a shared system covering post-harvest handling, quality control, and commercial sales. In practice, this marks a shift from a model in which each producer manages sales, logistics, and exports independently to a centralized system where key functions are integrated within a single professional platform.

This model gives producers the benefit of scale. Instead of duplicating sales teams, logistics functions, and export support, participants gain access to a common system for managing commercial processes. This makes it possible to reduce operating costs, strengthen negotiating power, and work with buyers in a more systematic way. For those buyers, not only volumes matter, but also consistency of quality, predictability of supply, and clear service standards.

A separate competitive advantage is the organization of sales through a European trader in Antwerp, where the platform rents cold storage facilities. This approach makes it possible to consolidate produce centrally, monitor its condition, carry out post-harvest handling, build large uniform batches, and structure commercial operations within European infrastructure. For buyers, this means lower operating risks and more predictable logistics, while for Ukrainian producers it provides significantly easier access to the EU market and an opportunity to operate in more profitable segments.

Importantly, all three companies are certified under GlobalG.A.P., GRASP, SMETA, SEDEX, C.o.C., and HACCP. The combination of standardization, modern infrastructure, and a joint export model creates the level of readiness required to work with demanding European retail chains and traders. This opens the way not only to higher export volumes, but also to entry into high-margin markets, where buyers pay not simply for berries, but for consistency, service, and predictable quality.

It is precisely the combination of production scale, infrastructure, and standardization that moves the business into a different league. “When you have scale, professional post-harvest handling, sorting, cold chain, and clear quality standards, a producer gains a completely different level of commercial opportunity in foreign markets,” says Yevhenii Kharlan, Head of the UA GROWERS platform.

Market participants note that for European buyers, not only price and volume are becoming increasingly important, but also the supplier’s ability to ensure uninterrupted work with product batches, stable quality parameters, and professional export support. This is exactly the logic UA GROWERS is building on, by bringing Ukrainian blueberry producers into a shared sales system to compete more effectively on the international market.
