— Cucumber sales fell, while prices increased
— Watermelons became the leading product in the fruit and berry segment

These and other developments in the region’s fruit and vegetable markets are covered in the latest EastFruit weekly review of its trading platforms.
During the past week, participants from 13 countries bought and sold products through the EastFruit Trade Platform group. The overall number of advertisements declined slightly, primarily due to lower activity among users from Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
Sellers from Iran and Egypt also posted fewer offers. At the same time, product availability from Türkiye and Poland increased. Advertisements from Tajikistan, Georgia and Greece returned to the platform.
As a result, the ranking of the five most active countries by number of advertisements changed and now includes: Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, Iran and Poland.
Potatoes retain the lead as tomato supply surges
Despite a decline in the number of offers, potatoes remained the most frequently advertised product on the platform during the week.
Tomatoes ranked only slightly behind, with the number of sellers almost doubling compared with the previous week.
Sales offers for cucumbers, white cabbage and table beet declined sharply. Meanwhile, supplies of sweet corn and sweet peppers continued to grow, allowing sweet peppers to return to the list of the most frequently traded products.
Among products that did not enter the weekly top ranking, garlic stood out due to a noticeable increase in supply. Meanwhile, Spanish garlic producers are calling on the European Union to protect the domestic market from low-priced imports from Egypt.
Watermelon becomes the leading product in the fruit segment
Watermelon led the fruit and berry segment last week, as the season gained momentum in Ukraine and supply increased sharply.
In terms of the number of sales offers, watermelon was only slightly behind potatoes and could potentially overtake them during the current week.
Supplies of peaches, nectarines and plums also continued to expand.
By contrast, sweet cherry sales fell sharply. The product is now the most likely candidate to leave the ranking of the most frequently traded fruit and vegetable products in the coming weeks.
A brief overview of the global sweet cherry market in 2026 is available separately, while the final weekly ranking of the most frequently traded products is presented in the chart below.
Buyers remain interested in sweet corn and berries for freezing
Sweet corn and berries intended for freezing continued to generate the strongest demand among participants in the trading group.
The number of advertisements from buyers seeking watermelons and melons also increased.
Despite the expansion in tomato supply, purchase requests for tomatoes remained frequent throughout the week.
EastFruit Trade Platform prices — Ukraine
Prices for newly harvested vegetables used in the traditional “borsch set” continued to decline in Ukraine.
White cabbage was the only exception, with prices remaining unchanged from the previous week.
Prices for carrots from the previous harvest increased once again. Cucumber prices also began to rise.
At the same time, tomatoes and sweet peppers were sold at lower prices than a week earlier.
Sweet corn became cheaper amid growing supply. Prices for courgettes and aubergines also declined, while fresh herbs became more affordable.
In the fruit and berry segment, blueberry prices continued to fall. Prices for wild blueberries also declined.
As the season approached its end, garden strawberry prices began to increase.
Peach and apricot prices fell, while sour cherry prices moved higher.
EastFruit Trade Platform prices — Uzbekistan
Carrot prices started to rise in Uzbekistan.
Cucumbers were also sold at higher prices than during the previous week.
Prices increased for peaches and dark-coloured grape varieties, while watermelons and plums became cheaper.
The first price offers for red grapes also appeared on the market.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan and Poland are discussing the creation of a logistics hub in Poland that could serve as a platform for supplying Uzbek products to European Union markets.
Packaging dominates the fruit and vegetable technology segment
The number of advertisements posted on the EastFruit Fruittechnology platform remained broadly unchanged from the previous period.
As in the previous week, containers and packaging for fruit and vegetable products dominated the group, with the number of offers continuing to increase.
